The War Counsel
The war counsel was settled at last,
the battle plans had all been drawn,
the sacrificial lamb had been slain,
everything was done.
The Generals had all spoken, each one at his turn,
not a shadow had been overlooked, not a stone was left unturned.
All was ready and in order, the excitement you could taste,
the air around the throne electric with the burning of His grace.
This is why you're here, My son, that you too may know,
My Holy plan is settled, being set forth long ago.
The taste upon your tongue is fire with a metal tinge,
how else would you perceive the burning sword within?

The all consuming fire of my righteousness,
My bride has been asleep, and taken many lovers to her breast,
how does she in soiled garments feign before me righteousness?
Here I give Her warning, harden not your heart;
for the time of battle cries, upon us, to set forth to the mark.
To seek my face forever in all
In all that you must do,
to cast away unholy lovers,
that you've drawn near to you.
To rend your hearts,
and not your garments,
to humble soul and spirit!
